The article examines the family model and the model of family conflict in L. Ulickaya’s short story «The Daughter of Bukhara». The author analyzes the key aspects of family relations expressed through the conflict between the main characters and explores how these conflicts reflect cultural, social, and gender characteristics. The use of a cognitive approach allows for revealing the mechanisms of mental model formation in the reader, as well as exploring how the literary text influences the perception of traditional family roles and relations. The main focus is on the themes of disability, responsibility, love, and acceptance, as well as the conflicts arising from the intersection of personal desires and social expectations.
