Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

A scientific article is a textual material presenting the initial, intermediate, or final results of scientific research, experimental, or analytical activities. It must contain previously unpublished content, including original authorial developments, conclusions, and recommendations.

The scientific journal Bulletin of Shakarim University. Philology Series accepts manuscripts in Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish. The journal is published quarterly (4 issues per year).

Articles must be submitted electronically by uploading them to the journal’s website: https://philological.vestnik.shakarim.kz/index.php/my/index in .doc, .docx, or .rtf formats. Registration on the website is required to use the submission portal.

The journal accepts articles in the following fields:

  • Linguistics
  • Literary Studies
  • Methods of Teaching Language and Literature

For anonymous peer review (Double-blind review), authors are advised to submit two versions of the manuscript:

  1. A version containing author information
  2. A version without author information

Within one issue of the journal, an author (including co-authorship) may publish no more than two articles. The number of authors in a co-authored article must not exceed three.

Manuscript Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 12 pt
    • Abstract and keywords: 10 pt
    • Table text: 9–11 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.0
  • Margins: 2 cm on all sides

The length of the article (excluding the title, author information, abstract, notes, and references) must be no less than 2,500 words and no more than 7,000 words.

Structure of a Scientific Article

  • The GRNTI (State Rubricator of Scientific and Technical Information) index must be indicated in the upper left corner of the first line. It can be obtained via http://grnti.ru.
  • Author information must be centered and placed after one blank line:
    • Full name(s) of the author(s) (initials of the first name and patronymic followed by the surname, e.g., T.S. Sairambayev);
    • Affiliation and address of the author(s) – name of the higher education institution or organization;
    • ORCID number (registration instructions: https://orcid.org/);
    • Country, city, and e-mail address of the corresponding author.
  • The title of the article must be centered and written in capital letters. It should reflect the essence and content of the article and attract the reader’s attention. The title must be concise, informative, and abbreviations are not allowed.
  • Abstract – a concise summary of the main purpose of the research, methods, objects of study, key findings, significance, and scientific and practical value of the work. Length: 150–300 words.
  • Keywords – words and phrases used for indexing the article and identifying its subject area (at least 5–7 keywords).

Main Text

The main text must be presented after one blank line and should include the following sections:

  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References
  • Funding Information (if applicable)

At the end of the article, information about the author(s) must be provided, including: full name, academic degree, academic title, place of employment, name of the organization, city, country, e-mail address, and ORCID number of each author.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
