Abstract

Modern criticism in Turkish Literature begins in the Tanzimat Period. The modern criticism, which Namık Kemal gave its first example in 1866, proceeds in an impressionist line in two main periods until 1960. In addition, most of the critics in these years use criticisms such as objective, historical, biographical/monographic, sociological and archetypal along with impressionist criticism. The resulting multible understanding causes the criticism to be expressed in an eclectic structure. It can be said that eclectic understanding prevents critics from writing original works in terms of production and application in a theoretical context.
