THE GRAMMATICAL NATURE OF SYNTACTIC AGREEMENT IN THE KAZAKH LANGUAGE
Keywords:

The article provides a detailed description of the grammatical nature of the so-called agreement in the syntactic connection of words in the Kazakh language. Agreement has long been regarded as a separate type of syntactic connection within a sentence; however, its grammatical nature particularly the functions of the forms that bind syntactic components, such as nominative case forms has not been fully explored in Kazakh linguistics or Turkology and has only been partially addressed. The article aims to fill this gap. The author’s view on the role of the nominative case in word combinations is substantiated through specific linguistic evidence. In addition, the article proposes introducing the concept of unilateral or incomplete agreement into scholarly discourse. This proposal contributes to a more precise distinction between the grammatical types of agreement and subordination (matasu) in Turkology. The study employs comparative, descriptive, and interpretative methods. The findings can be applied in the courses “Morphology of the Modern Kazakh Language” and “Syntax of the Simple Sentence and Phrase in the Modern Kazakh Language,” taught in higher education institutions. The article is intended for philologists, researchers, and all readers interested in the grammatical system of the Kazakh language.
