Based on principles that contribute to the development of intercultural communicative competence during language acquisition, the article explores the interrelation between language and culture, as well as the connection between a national language and the worldview and culture of its people. It is shown that, in teaching any language, in addition to its educational and communicative functions, it is essential to convey its cognitive role—as a means for understanding the historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage accumulated by humanity, for expressing thoughts, and for self-awareness and understanding others.
The article describes methods for developing learners’ intercultural communication skills in the process of mastering a language and outlines effective teaching approaches within a national-cultural context. Furthermore, it provides concrete examples to justify the role and effectiveness of using country-specific materials in language teaching through the comparison of cultural values. As a result of the study, it was found that incorporating such information not only enhances students’ communicative competence in a foreign language but also fosters respect for the traditions of other cultures.
